We heard there was pecan pie ….

Welcome to this year’s Thanksgiving post. I’m trying to wrap up everything today so I can take a few days off for Thanksgiving. I have no words of gratitude wisdom, no thoughts about the things we should be thankful for and nothing to add to my Transformation Moments section. And no, I will not be cooking so there won’t be any funny stories to share about my lack of kitchen management skills.

BUT we are getting ready to celebrate Jake’s birthday this weekend. My little boy is turning 9 this Sunday so stay tuned for this week’s Sunday Funnys. I’m planning a really cool post so you can share in the birthday fun.

For this year’s post, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite Thanksgiving quotes:

“What we’re really talking about is a wonderful day set aside on the fourth Thursday of November when no one diets. I mean, why else would they call it Thanksgiving?” –Erma Bombeck
“You know that just before that first Thanksgiving dinner there was one wise, old Native American woman saying, “Don’t feed them. If you feed them, they’ll never leave.” –Dylan Brody
Thanksgiving is the day when you turn to another family member and say, “How long has Mom been drinking like this?” My Mom, after six Bloody Marys looks at the turkey and goes, “Here, kitty, kitty.” –David Letterman
“Thanksgiving is an emotional time. People travel thousands of miles to be with people they only see once a year. And then discover once a year is way too often.” –Johnny Carson
“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
—Melody Beattie

  1. I can’t tell you how relieved I am that you are not cooking!   Here’s wishing Jake a very happy birthday! Things I’m thankful for:  1.  My senses:  I can see, hear, taste and feel                                     2.  The roof over my head                                     3.  The clothes on my back                                     4.  The food in my stomach                                     5.  The presence of God in my life.   Happy Thanksgiving, my friend.  May God bless you now and always!

    • And the rest of my family was quite thankful I was not cooking either! That’s a great gratitude list… hmm …. looks like the start of some of those pieces of paper you use for your writing days.
Hope you had a great day with your family 🙂

    • We actually celebrated his birthday for most of the week. I think I’m going to have a week-long celebration for my next birthday too 🙂
Hope you and your family had a Happy Thanksgiving too!

Let me know, what do you think?
